Finance Minister Zakhilwal visited Berlin, Germany to attend the conference on the new German Strategy for Afghanistan 2014-2017 and deliver his keynote speech on Afghanistan’s paths toward self-reliance.
Zakhilwal congratulated Dr. Muller on his new appointment as Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development and thanked his German partner for inviting him to Berlin to participate in the Conference on Germany’s New Development Strategy for Afghanistan.
During this meeting both Ministers touched upon Afghanistan’s past achievements in areas of health, education, good governance, public finance management, private sector development, democracy and institutional building and emphasized German continued support to and engagement in Afghanistan in the decade of transformation.
The German Minister, Dr. Muller, expressed Germany’s continued interest to stay a reliable partner for Afghanistan and re-affirmed Germany’s annual financial commitment of 430 million Euros in the years to come. Germany is the third largest bilateral donor to Afghanistan.
