As part of trilateral consultations, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkey have underlined the need for reconstruction and economic development in the Heart of Asia region.
At a meeting in Islamabad, delegates from the three countries discussed the regional situation, with focus on recent economic and political developments.
The possibilities of enhanced collaboration in areas of economy, trade, energy and infrastructure were also explored, according to the news agency Associated Press of Pakistan.
It said the political consultations at the technical level were held in pursuance of a decision taken at the 8th trilateral summit in Ankara on February 13.
Directors-generals from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the three countries led their respective delegations at the inaugural session.
The Afghan side was represented by Ambassador Abdul Samad Samad and the Pakistani team by Director General Mohammad Iftikhar Anjum.
Later, the delegates from Turkey and Afghanistan also called on Pakistan Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry.
