As many as 38 militants have been killed during operations in the Panjwai and Maiwand districts of southern Kandahar province, police said on Tuesday.
The offensive involved Afghan National Army (ANA) and police personnel, with ISAF providing areal and technical support to the ground forces, Kandahar police spokesman Zia Durrani told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said another five rebels were wounded and their six motorcycles seized during the ongoing operation.
He said air strikes targeted rebel hideouts and there were no reports about civilian casualties.
The Taliban have not yet commented about the offensive
