A number of Afghan policewomen on Saturday left for Turkey to undergo a four-month training course. The officers would be trained in computer skills, administration, management, law-enforcement and driving.
A senior Ministry of Interior official Brig. Gen. Hikmat Shahi said 500 policewomen in total would benefit from the training programme. She added another batch of 100 policewomen would depart for Turkey tomorrow.
Female police officers from all 34 provinces would be included in the programme and they would be posted in their respective districts on return, she said.
Among the departing females, Shabnam, told Pajhwok Afghan News she would strive hard to learn best skills improving her capacity to serve the nation.
According to the MoI, some 2,200 policewomen have been serving in various parts of the country, which needs at least 5000 policewomen.
