At least 14 Taliban insurgents were killed during a nationwide operation led by the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said in a statement on Tuesday.
The operations were conducted in Laghman, Nangarhar, Parwan, Baghlan, Maidan Wardak, Logar, Ghazni, Khost and Paktika provinces, the statement said.
It added two other insurgents were arrested during the operations.
The security forces have also seized weapons and explosive devices.
"During the past 24 hours, the Police discovered and defused 11 different types of IEDs planted inside the grounds for destructive activities in Nangarhar, Kandahar, Khost and Paktika provinces," the statement declared.
