Armed Insurgents Suffer Heavy Casualties in Afghan Forces Clearance Operations

anp-silhuetteIn past 24 hours, Afghan National Police conducted several anti-terrorism joint operations with Afghan National Army and NDS to clean some of the areas from terrorists and enemies of peace and stability of Afghanistan.

The operations were conducted in Kunar, Parwan, Baghlan, Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan, Ghazni, Farah, Badghis and Helmand provinces, as a result 62 armed insurgents were killed, 32 wounded and six others were arrested by Afghan National Security Forces.

Armed insurgents suffered the heaviest casualty in Mohmand Dara district of eastern Nangarhar province and Shah Joi district of southern Zabul province.

Also, during these operations, Afghan National Police discovered and confiscated light and heavy rounds ammunition, IEDs, two vehicles and 11 motorbikes.

During the same 24 hour period, Afghan National Police discovered and defused two different types of IEDs placed by enemies of Afghanistan for destructive activities in Mohammad Agha district of Logar province.

Afghan National Police are working diligently with local leaders and the public to prevent these types of acts from killing and wounding innocent civilians and security forces.
