Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, received a number of the country’s businessmen and investors today in ARG.
In the meeting in which the President’s Economic Advisor Hazrat Omar Zakhliwal was also present, Deputy Chairman of Afghanistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industries Khan Jan Alokozay speaking on behalf of others presented his views and recommendations about the business situation in the country to the President.
Having listened to the views and recommendations, President Ghani said that the businessmen and investors of Afghanistan have consistently helped people in hard times.
Appreciating the assistance of businessmen and private sector for the people of Kunduz, President Ghani said that the country’s businessmen have always fulfilled their national and religious obligations in helping the people during unpleasant incidents.
With regard to the airports, the President said that the government has taken measures to improve the business environment in the country and facilitate transportation of goods via airports. He added that these measures can improve the investment environment in the future.
Concerning Salma Dam in Herat province, the President said that the dam reserves some 60 million cubic meters of water which facilitates better irrigation and ease up the work of farmers. He added the provinces of Herat and Balkh will be connected to railway in the future, which will significantly contribute to improving the business situation.
At the end of the meeting, President Ghani said that he meets separately with representatives from the private sector and that an economic meeting will be held in the week ahead so that people find out more about the business situation.
