Three would-be suicide attackers and five of their associates have been detained by National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives in Kabul, the spy service said on Thursday.
A statement from the intelligence agency said the individuals were arrested in the 12th police district. The individuals had come from Pakistan for conducting suicide attacks in Afghanistan, it alleged.
The statement added: “The detainees planned to conduct suicide attacks during protests in various parts of the capital to kill our innocent countrymen.”
Recently, a series of rallies were taken out in support of Dr. Abdullah in various parts of the country against alleged rigging in the runoff presidential elections.
