President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai on Wednesday said efforts would be made to ensure some exclusive achievements ahead of the joint Afghan-British Conference in London next month.
The president said this at a meeting with British Ambassador Richard Stagg and UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) Permanent Secretary Mark Lowcock at the Presidential Palace here.
The meeting discussed bilateral relations between Afghanistan and the UK and British assistance to Kabul in line with the new government’s priorities. Preparations on both the sides for the London Conference also came up for discussion at the meeting, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.
“Until the London Conference, we are trying to have some exclusive achievements to show the Afghans and the international community that the Afghan government is committed to its pledges about Afghanistan’s development,” the statement quoted Ahmadzai as saying.
Ahmadzai hoped the Afghan government would be able to lure foreign investments through the London Conference, the statement said.
