Afghanistan defeated the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by two wickets in a closely-contested one-dayer at the ICC Academy ground on Thursday.
Afghanistan, opting to bowl first in the third ODI, restricted the hosts to 273 runs for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 50 overs, the cricket board spokesman said.
Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News the national team achieved the target for the loss of eight wickets in the final over. Mirwais Ashraf and Javed Ahmadi hit half centuries to saw their side dry and home.
Already two up in the four-match series, a preparation for the World Cup, the UAE had won the previous encounters by clear margins. Their quest to clinch the series has been thwarted for now.
