Dozens of women on Sunday graduated from a six-month business and capacity-building training in the Jalrez district in central Maidan Wardak province.
Ataullah Khogyani, the provincial government spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the training had been organized by the provincial Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department.
The course was aimed at improving women’s business skills and imparting them valuable knowledge to improve their families’ lives and meet their daily financial needs, he added.
Heela, one of the graduates, said the training was a unique experience and a positive step toward women’s empowerment.
Naqib Ullah Haideri, the Jalrez district chief, appreciated the programme and asked the graduating women to transfer what they learnt during the course to other women in their respective areas.
The training course was the first of its kind taking place in Maidan Wardak province.
