A two-day workshop on “Small and Medium-sized Enterprise, community and public sector training” was held in Ampratory Baran-e-Shahir hotel of Mazar-e-Sharif on May 19, 2015, with the collaboration of MIDAS and Directorate of Information and Public Relations of Ministry of Mines and Petroleum (MoMP), which was participated by engineers of the Provincial Directorate of Mines, representatives from the private sector, small and medium commercial organizations, and members of Civil Society.
Core geologist of Metallic Minerals Team of Afghanistan Geological Survey (AGS) engineer Popal Faizi considered the setting up of such workshops as a positive step, and requested the participants to get benefits of this kind of workshops.
Then, the trainer of MIDAS Sibghatullah Stanikzai highlighted the objectives of the workshop as informing and training of small and medium enterprises, work and commercial opportunities in the mining sector, and development of private sector for conducting of various processes of mining, and awareness of the public.
“MIDAS cooperates with MoMP in legal affairs, capacity building of staff members in the technical field, and development of private sector and areas,” Mr. Stanikzai add.
Arrangers of the workshop had presentations on commercial bidding processes in extractive industries, planning for business, community development agreement, social development contracts, characteristics of a good procedure, and geographical location of Afghanistan. The participants were delighted with the contents of the workshop and requested for continuation of such workshops.
