President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has condemned assault on a guesthouse in capital Kabul and said the enemy does not have courage to face Afghan National Security and Defense Forces in the battlefield.
According to statement released by Presidential Palace, Ghani on Wednesday hailed Afghan National Security and defense Forces (ANDSF) quick response to insurgents’ coordinated attack on a guesthouse in Kabul’s Wazir Akbar Khan locality on Tuesday night.
A group of four armed fighters stormed Hetal guesthouse at around 11: 00 pm on Tuesday night, and the ensuing gun battle lasted till 5: 00 am Wednesday morning.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) spokesman Sediq Sediqi told Pajhwok Afghan News all the attackers were killed during the firefight.
He praised the Afghan security forces for swift action to dislodge fighters without inflecting casualties on civilians. Neither civilians nor Afghan security forces suffered casualties in the hours long clash, he added.
The president said: “Our security forces proved once again they would defend the country against nefarious designs of the enemy of Afghanistan.”
