Armed Insurgents Suffer Heavy Casualties in Afghan Forces Joint Clearance Operations

anp-special-forcesIn past 24 hours, Afghan National Police conducted several anti-terrorism joint operations with Afghan National Army and NDS to clear some of the areas from terrorists and enemies of peace and stability of Afghanistan.

The operations were conducted in Kunduz, Badakhshan, Zabul, Uruzgan, Badghis, Nimroz and Kandahar provinces, as a result 61 armed insurgents were killed, 72 wounded and one was arrested by Afghan National Security Forces.

Armed insurgents suffered the heaviest casualty in the Ghork district of southern Kandahar province.

Also, during these operations, Afghan National Police discovered and confiscated light and heavy rounds ammunition.

During the same 24 hour period, Afghan National Police discovered and defused nine different types of IEDs placed by enemies of Afghanistan for destructive activities in Baghlan, Balkh and Paktiya provinces.

Afghan National Police are working diligently with local leaders and the public to prevent these types of acts from killing and wounding innocent civilians and security forces.
