The contracts for 66 development projects of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development were signed today in the conference hall of the MRRD between H.E. Minister Nasir Ahmad Durrani, the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development and Community Development Councils (CDCs).
The contracted projects include the rehabilitation of 50 flood destroyed projects and six irrigation projects which will be rehabilitated by the financial support of Asian Development Bank (ADB). The rest 10 development projects will be financed by the Islamic Republic Government of Afghanistan.The total budget for the projects will be reached to AFN 193 million, including 10% community contribution. The projects will be implemented in the provinces of Balkh, Samangan, Baghlan, Badakhshan, Panjshir, Ghor, Bamyan, Daykundi, Kabul, Takhar, Faryab, Kunar, Zabul and Laghman. Approximately, 128408 rural people will gain access to facilities upon the completion of these development projects.Having signed the contracts, Minister Durrani said, “Over the last four months, the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) has been able to implement 201 new development projects and complete 3500 ongoing utility projects in various villages throughout the country.”Also, at the signing ceremony Minister Durrani outlined his new plans to resolve the problems and shortcomings of Facilitating Partners (FPs) and ensuring transparency at the MRRD.At the end of the signing ceremony, Minister Durrani also responded the questions raised by Journalists.
