On 31 January 2015, the commencement of the national training scheme on the Mining Contract Management System got underway which is part of the UKAID funded Extractive Sector Support Program and is intended to increase the ability of the Ministry to monitor and inspect compliance of its mining contracts.
On the 5th round of this training program which was held from 30 May to 17 June 2015 in the Afghanistan Geological Survey conference hall there were 16 participants from Inspection and Cadastre departments of the following provincial directorates: Herat, Jawzjan, Balkh, Samangan, Sarepul, Badakhshan, Faryab and Baghlan.So far 111 staff of the ministry from Inspection, Cadaster, Contract Compliance and 18 provincial directorates has participated in this program and we have planned to carry on this program for the next one and a half year to cover all provincial offices.We also have in plan to train some of the trainees as trainers for the program which will enable the Ministry to continue the capacity building in the future. The first round of trainer training was held on 26 and 27th of May 2015 in which there were two participants from Cadastre Directorate and two participants from Legal Services Directorate. These new trainers are going to conduct training in the next Mining Contract Management course. The next Train the Trainers program is going to be held from 27 to 29th of July.
