The spy agency on Saturday claimed arresting three would-be suicide bombers linked to the dreaded Haqqani network in capital Kabul.
The National Directorate of Security (NDS) said in a statement the would-be attackers were detained during a special operation.
Two of the detainees were suicide bombers and the third was their guide, the agency said, adding a Corrolla vehicle full of explosives was also seized from the suspects.
The suspects had confessed they were planning to conduct suicide blasts in a crowded locality of Kabul city.
Earlier in the day, a suicide bomber targeted a senior election official today in Kart-i-Naw locality Kabul, killing his bodyguard and wounding two more.
