MRRD Grants Certificates of Appreciation to Reporters

In a rare gesture, the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development H.E. Eng. Nasir Ahmad Durrani awarded certificates of appreciation to 56 journalists working with different media organizations.


A ceremony was held in this regard in the conference hall of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, where several authorities of media and reporters were present.

Addressing those at the ceremony, the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development commended the activities of mass media and said, “Media’s role and influence have been so much tremendous that now it is considered as one of the pillars of the state. The Government should be held accountable to media, existence of media leads to transparency.”

Calling the media as good teammate, Minister Durrani declared his support from their activities and requested them to help the MRRD provide better services to the rural communities.
Thereafter, on behalf of others Mr. Abdul Mujib Khilwatgar-Chief Executive Nai-Supporting Open Media in Afghanistan commended MRRD’s performance and said that media acts as eye, ear and tongue of the public. Unfortunately, rather than the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development and some other organs several government entities are not willing to share accurate information with the media.

He urged the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development to share their above mentioned concern with the government of Afghanistan.
At the same time, Pajhwok Afghan News director Mr. Danish Karokhel, Senior Editor of Hasht-e-Subh Daily Shah Hussain Murtazawi and Sharif Hassanyar talked respectively and praised the steps taken by the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development.

At the end of the ceremony, certificates of appreciation were distributed by H.E. Eng. Nasir Ahmad Durrani - the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development.
