The MRRD Minister Visits Paktia Province

As part of the ongoing series of official trips to the provinces, the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development Nasir Ahmad Durrani left Kabul for Paktia province today.

During his stay in Paktia province, the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development officially opened 106 uplift projects which were recently completed by the National Solidarity Program of the MRRD across eight districts of that province, worth of AFN 75 million and 685 thousand. Approximately, 16,567 rural households have gained access to many facilities upon the completion of these development projects.Addressing those at the inauguration ceremony of three storey provincial building built for the National Rural Access Program (NRAP) worth of 23 million Afs Minister Durrani said, ”In order to provide employment opportunities for the rural residents, the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development has designed and accelerated the Maintenance and Protection Project under the National Solidarity Program. Fortunately, the MRRD intends to implement this project across Paktia province in upcoming year at a sum of AFN 150 million. During the implementation and progress of this project nearly 30,000 rural inhabitants will gain access to employment opportunities. “Answering the questions those raised by the Journalists in provincial GMIC Office Minster Durrani remarked, ”During last 14 years the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development has disbursed USD 38 million and 100 thousand for the implementation of 2,620 development projects throughout Paktia province. The implementation of these projects was of great importance for the rural communities. “At the same time, the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development has been able to complete 592 public utility projects in Paktia province during 1394 fiscal year. These projects have been completed at a sum of USD nine million and 200 thousand. This is in a time that 652 other projects are underway in Paktia, worth of 11 million and 900 thousand United States Dollars.
