H.E. Eng Nasir Ahmad Durrani, the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development held introductory meeting with newly appointed British Ambassador to Kabul, Mr. Dominic James Robert Jeremy.
In the meeting that took place at the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, the two sides discussed issues of mutual interest.
Thanking UK for providing assistance to Afghanistan; particularly in rural development, Minister Durrani attached great importance and value to British cooperation with Afghanistan in terms of rural development and urged the government of UK to continue their contributions towards the development of Afghanistan.
Ambassador Dominic James Robert Jeremy reiterated his government’s continuous cooperation with the national developmental programmes under the auspices of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development in particular with the second phase of CARD-F.
According to another news, the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development also met today with a delegation from UNICEF including Karin Hulshof Regional Director, UNICEF South Asia.
In this meeting the MRRD Minister appreciated the generous support and cooperation of UNICEF with the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development. Also the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development termed the role of UNICEF in rural development as very important.
In return, UNICEF’s Regional Director for S. Asia stated that the purpose of her trip to Afghanistan is to pay visit from the development projects being implemented in the sector of irrigation, water supply and sanitation. She hoped that the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development will support her to carry out her mission in a better way.
She also said that the leadership of UNICEF South Asia is determined to hand-over management of WASH-Cluster to the MRRD, managed previously by UNICEF.
