KirbyThe U.S Department of State spokesman John Kirby said his government continues to support efforts on the part of President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah in advancing the National Unity Government's reform agenda to bring security and stability to Afghanistan.

He says: "We continue to support and welcome cooperation between President Ghani and Chief Executive Abdullah in advancing the National Unity Government's reform agenda to bring security and stability to the Afghan people."Earlier this month, Obama, during a video conference call with his Afghan counterpart, welcomed Ghani's recent efforts for direct talks with the Taliban.Obama also "underscored U.S support for a peace process that reduces violence and ensures lasting stability in Afghanistan and the region," said the White House in a statement.He maintained that a stable Afghanistan was a vital need to ensure longstanding peace and security in the region.In addition, the U.S leader applauded the capabilities of Afghan forces in confronting the militants in the country.
