Over 50 government ministers and representatives of development agencies, civil society, private sector and NGOs are gathered in Addis to agree on a way to meet targets on universal access to water, sanitation and hygiene as called for in the new Sustainable Development Goals.
On behalf of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development H.E. Eng. Nasir Ahmad Durrani headed a technical delegation has attended this meeting.
The Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development presented a comprehensive presentation to the conference which included situation of water and sanitation, environment challenges, opportunities and future plans of Afghanistan over universal access to water, sanitation and hygiene and implementation of Sustainable Development Goals.
Addressing those at the conference the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development also wanted from relevant donors to support Afghanistan in the areas of access to water, sanitation and hygiene.
Inaugurated by the President of Ethiopia the two-day conference is attended by approximately 200 participants. Under the aegis of the Sanitation and Water for All partnership, the conference is convened by UNICEF and hosted by the Government of Ethiopia.
