The Afghan delegation headed by H.E. Hakimi had bilateral meetings with South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC)Finance Ministers.
The theme of the meeting was "Financing Development of Economic Corridors in the SAARC Region". At the beginning of the meeting, a presentation on the theme was delivered. Then finance ministers' made brief statements on the current assessment of macro-economic developments and economic outlook of their countries.
The SAAR is regional intergovernmental organization and geopolitical union in South Asia. Its member states include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, the Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
In another occasion the Finance Minister met with the delegation of India headed by Mr. Shaktikanta Das, Department of Economic Affairs,Ministry of Finance of India.
Minister thanked india's development assistance with Afghanistan and talked about the recent reforms of the gov't to increase revenue collection. He then said that the implementation of TAPI project is important to bring stability in the region.
minister Hakimi requested Mr. Das to share their skills, experience and knowledge of Public Private Partnership (PPP) with Afghanistan. This can be done by conducting seminars, workshops, training's on PPP in india for Afghans or sending PPP experts to Afghanistan to work with relevant line ministries.
A meeting was also took place between Afghan and Pakistan delegation. From Pakistan side, the head of delegation was their finance minister Ishaq Dar.
Both sides talked about ongoing projects funded by Pakistan.
Minister Hakimi also invited minister Ishaq Dar to visit Kabul in the coming months to discuss and measure the progress of projects agreed upon by both sides in the last Joint Economic Commission meeting which took place in Islamabad between the two sides last year.. Mr. Dar said that the projects are going very well. Pakistan is funding projects in the road sector as well as construction of hospitals in Afghanistan.
Minister Hakimi also invited Minister Ishaq Dar for the inauguration ceremony of Jalalabad - Torkham road upon its completion. The road is currently being constructed by Pakistan. Minister Dar accepted the invitation.
At the end, H.E. Eklil Hakimi asked Pakistan's support for Afghanistan to become member of the new Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). Pakistan's Finance minister Ishaq Dar assured H.E. Hakimi of his support in this regard.
