On June 1, 2016, Afghanistan Rural Enterprise Development Program of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD/AREDP) facilitated a three-day exhibition entitled “Rural Market” in Bagh-e- Babor garden.
The exhibition was inaugurated by His Excellency Eng. Nasir Ahmad Durrani, the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development. Accompanied by Executive Director of Afghanistan Rural Enterprise Development, several MRRD staff and representatives of rural entrepreneurs His Excellency Minister Nasir Ahmad Durrani had tour in the exhibition areas and interacted with SME from rural areas. Nearly, 110 different types of handmade products such as handcrafted textiles, carpets, clothes and food stuff are showcased in this exhibition.
Emphasizing on extension of such fairs, the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development said that such an exhibition helps bring rural community product at the national level and create linkages between urban and rural areas.
Ms. Jamila Akhundzada one of the entrepreneurs from Nangarhar province participating in this exhibition said, “The Afghanistan Rural Enterprise Development Program of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development provided me with the opportunity to mobilize nearly 300 rural women around the association. In addition to production and selling of Afghani cloths in local markets, our association could manage to send 300 cloths to the United States of America.”
