Police shot dead all the three suicide bombers when a group of attackers stormed the office of National Directorate of Security (NDS) in southern Kandahar province on Wednesday, an official said.
Zia Durrani, provincial police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News a group of suicide attackers mounted attack on NDS’s interrogation branch.
He said the incident took place at around 10:00am at Shahidano square in Kandahar city. All the three bombers had been gunned down by the security forces, he added.
Provincial press office said the bombers were forcing their way into the residential compound of NDS employees but after identifying them, the operation staff shot them dead after firece exchange of gun fire.
Samiullah, an eyewitness, told Pajhwok Afghan News he saw the attackers came in a rickshaw to the site and then entered into a gun battle with the police.
