Construction work on a recreational park for women has been launched in the Arghandab district of southern Kandahar province, an official said on Monday.
The park is being built over 25 acres of land in the Baba Wali neighbourhood of Arghandab, the provincial municipality spokesperson, Zmarai Sargand, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Funded by the municipality, the project will be completed in three months at a cost of 13 million afghanis. The facility includes a parking lot, a boundary wall, canteens and toilets.
Rahmania, a woman from the Kabul Shah locality of the provincial capital, hailed the plan as a good step toward facilitating women. Just like men, she said, women also reserved the right to recreation.
