The Afghan Local Police (ALP) is a driving force in improving security in Paktika province.
Paktika Chief of Police, Col Nisar Ahmed, is pleased that locals join the ALP to serve their own communities. “They are from the area, they are well trained and they respect their people. Winning the trust of people plays a significant role in providing security for them.”
Akbar Jan, a resident of Shekin district, is now able to travel to all parts of the province. “Security has improved all over the province since the formation of the ALP. Locals can conduct their business much better.”
A resident of Yahya Khel district, Jabar, praised the ALP for providing security. “Development projects are now possible to implement. We are looking forward to better conditions in our province,” he said.
