Eleven militants were killed and seven others wounded when Taliban stormed a security check posts in southern Kandahar province, an official said Friday.
Zia Durrani, provincial police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News police on a tip-off regarding looming insurgents’ attack on a security check post late Thursday in Arghistan district efficiently thwarted the attack.
In the ensuing battle, as many as 11 rebels, including two suicide bombers, were killed and seven others injured in the firefight, he added. Three policemen were also wounded, he said, adding that bodies of slain Taliban were lying in the area.
Police recovered huge ammunition and 11 Kalashnikovs after the firefight was over. Taliban insurgents have not commented on the incident as of yet.
