Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Monday visited the volatile southern province of Helmand to review the security situation.
In a statement issued by the presidential palace, Ghani spent time with Maiwand 215th Corps in Lashkargah city and praised them for their efforts.
Ghani told them that Afghanistan’s enemies have no idea how to improve this country but security forces want improvement, peace and security for the generations to come.
He said: “Those who say Afghanistan is in danger should think again. Because the security and defense forces are safeguarding this soil by sacrificing their lives.”
He said he is responsible as the president and commander-in-chief of the army to ensure the rights of families of martyred and wounded soldiers.
Ghani also congratulated all on the arrival of Ramazan and said he hoped lasting peace and stability would come to Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, the corps commander Mohammad Moeen said they are committed to defending every nook and cranny of the country as it is their duty.
