Italy willing to continue support


italy-supportItaly on Monday promised continued assistance to Afghanistan within the Non-Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) framework.

Italy’s Interior Minister Angelino Alfano held out the promise at a meeting with President Hamid Karzai in Kabul. Both sides agreed on deeper bilateral relations.

A statement from Karzai’s office said security transition from NATO to Afghan forces and the Kabul-Washington Bilateral Security Agreement were among the issues discussed.Karzai once again reiterated his administration’s conditions, including strengthening of peace in the country, for concluding the pact, the statement added.
