Afghanistan under 19 beats Sri Lanka by 32 runs in WC


The Afghanistan Under-19 National Cricket team secured their second consecutive victory in the ongoing ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup against Sri Lanka. The Afghan team managed to defeat Sri Lanka by 38 runs during a match which was disrupted by rain.

The Sri Lanka Under-19 cricket team won the toss and elected to field first allowing the Afghan U-19s to bat who set a target of 285 runs.

The Afghan U-19s played all 50 overs and lost 7 wickets during their batting innings with Ibrahim Zadran scoring 84 runs, Ikram Ali Khel 55 runs, Darwish Rasooli 63 runs, Nisar Wahdat 25 runs, Azmatullah Omarzai 20 runs, Qais Ahmadi 10 runs, Rahmanullah Gurbaz 7 runs, Baheer Shah 2 runs and Naveen-ul-Haq 1 run.

However, the Sri Lanka U-19s could not chase the given target despite the target runs were reduced 235 from 38 overs.

Sri Lanka lost all its batsmen after scoring only 202 runs from 37.3 overs.

This was the second consecutive win by the Afghan Under-19 national cricket team in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

The Afghan team secured their first victory against Pakistan on 13th January.
