The newly-constructed emergency ward of the Wazir Akbar Khan Hospital in Kabul, equipped with a laboratory and x-ray machine, was inaugurated on Wednesday.
Costing some 28 million afs, the ward has been named after Ahmad Wali Karzai, the slain brother of President Hamid Karzai. Minister for Public Health Dr. Suraya Dalil said at the inauguration ceremony that a private group Shadab Zafar had funded the construction of the ward, having 20 beds, a laboratory and x-ray machines. Muhammad Yunus Momand, the owner of Shadab Zafar, promised continued cooperation with for the Ministry of Public Health. “I am happy that a new facility for Afghans is ready to serve.” The speakers, including Khan Jan Alkozai, representing the Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Noor Agha Akram Zada and others, appreciated efforts for this noble cause.
