Fifty children have returned home after getting free treatment for burn injuries and broken bones in Germany, the Afghan Red Crescent Society said on Sunday.
The children were met their parents and journalists at the Afghanistan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) office in Kabul. Naseer Zaki, ARCS spokesman, said the German government facilitated the children’s treatment -- six to 12 months.
Zaki added children -- aged between 1 and 11 years -- could not be treated in Afghanistan and were sent to Germany. Another 29 children are still under treatment there and a group of 61 more recently left for Germany.
In the past 26 years, over 10,000 Afghan kids have been sent to Germany for treatment.
