Farmer's Day, a long-standing tradition, was celebrated in Kabul on Monday by locals – many of whom flocked to parks where they spent time with friends and family.
Despite security risks, local residents said they were intent on celebrating their national holidays.
Kabul was also host to a farmer's day exhibition where domestic products were on display.
A number of government officials came out in praise of farmers as did locals.
Speaking at an official event on Sunday, to mark Farmer's Day, President Ashraf Ghani said government was committed to assisting farmers and in line with this will distribute 40,000 tons of fertilized seed to farmers in the coming year.
He also said that in the coming year, 50 farmers in Afghanistan will be awarded for their contribution to the sector.
