Work on a canal project launched in Takhar

water canal (archive pictue)Up to 1,250 acres of land would be irrigated with the construction of a canal in the northern province of Takhar, officials said on Monday.

The 230-metre-long canal, being dug from the Taloqan River, will be completed in six months at a cost of more than 9 million afghanis ($172,414.)
Agriculture Director Eng. Mohammad Salim Daai told Pajhwok Afghan News the project was being funded by the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL).
